Acting as a liable and trustworthy Attorneys’ office ADA Attorneys Ltd (“ADA”) processes necessary personal data that in order to open and perform client assignments and to comply with obligations defined to us by law. Here we describe how personal information is used. Laws and regulations are applied to all processing of personal data, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679 “GDPR”)

Purpose for data processing

  • Client register, management of client information and client relationships

  • Opening and managing assignments and identifying clients in accordance with applicable laws

  • Marketing and invoicing

  • Website traffic analyzing (i.e. cookies) and ensuring accurate function of the website

  • Office premises are equipped with security cameras in order secure the premises

  • Sensitive data may be processed in order to identify clients and in order to adequately handle client assignments

Data sources

  • Personal data is mainly collected and received directly from the client, it’s representatives or people providing their personal information via contact form in ADA’s website. Personal data may be collected also from the opposing parties of assignments or from other business partners, public registers and authorities.

Protection of personal data

  • Attorney at law office is bound by law to strict confidentiality and that confidentiality is always maintained in all matters. Sufficient level of data security is ensured with different technical and security methods. Mainly all data is stored electronically on servers provided by third parties. Access to personal data is restricted to authorized users only.

  • Personal data is stored only for as long as it is necessary and required by the law and guidelines of the Finnish Bar Association. The storage period may vary depending on the matter.

Transfer of personal data

  • We have entered into agreements with service providers who may process personal data on our behalf. Appropriate agreements regarding processing of personal data have been signed with such service providers. Outside these agreements, personal data is disclosed or transferred to third parties only when required by law or authorities. The validity of such request is always evaluated separately. Other personal data transfers can be executed upon specific permission of the owner of the data.  

  • Primarily personal data is processed and stored within the EU/EEA region. In case personal data is processed or stored outside EU/EEA by a service provider, the security of personal data is ensured by using the EU's model clauses.

  • In all personal data processing situations, the sufficient level of data security is applied in accordance with data protection legislation.

The right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

  • You are entitled to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that ADA have not complied with the applicable data protection regulations.

Your rights

  • Right of access: You have the right to request access to the personal data relating to you. This includes e.g. the right to be informed of whether or not personal data about you is being processed, what personal data is being processed, and the purpose of the processing.

  • Right to rectification: You have the right to obtain from us without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate personal data concerning you. You may also request the completion of any incomplete personal data relating to you.

  •  Right to object: You are entitled to object to certain processing of your personal data, and we may be obliged to comply with your request unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for further processing of such personal data.

  • Right to opt out of marketing communications: Each of our marketing emails includes instructions on how you can opt out (unsubscribe) of future marketing, but you can also opt out at any time by contacting us as specified above.

  • Right to erasure: You may request the erasure of your personal data, and we are obliged to comply with your request e.g. in the event that the relevant personal data is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected, or where we have unlawfully processed the relevant personal data.

  • Right to restrict processing: Under certain statutory situations, we may be obliged to restrict the processing of your personal data.

  • Right to withdraw your consent: In cases where we have been processing your personal data based on your consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent to such processing at any time.

  • Right to data portability: In certain cases, you have the right to receive any personal data we process in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, where this is technically feasible.
